The project includes providing regular water supply, improved sanitation, health education & waste management.
In 2018 a commitment was made to improve the current water & sanitation.
We support water safety projects as a means of reducing the numbers of drownings – the major cause of child deaths.
APEN Thailand is supporting the concept of opening a small serviced clinic in the heart of Patong.
Includes checking, cleaning and clinical dentistry. To educate the importance of regular checking, cleaning and upkeep.
APEN Thailand supports other community organisations and service clubs in the provision of other health, safety and welfare services.
Encouraging and supporting every child to be able to read and write.
Encouraging young leaders to accept responsibility to create sustainable communities.
To encourage technical and University students in an understanding of environmental management.

Kindergarten
The Director and staff do an outstanding job teaching the students and the government has recently constructed a large canteen area. A recent Australian Government Foreign Affairs and Trade grant enabled the upgrade of the whole sanitation system. There is an urgent need to provide 2 liters of clean drinking water to the canteen

Similar health screening will also take place in all the Koh Sirae education centres comprising of 2000 students. As well as health there will also be nutrition. Each child will be assessed for improved nutrition. The high levels of toxins in and around Koh Sirae in many cases lead to decreased immune systems and potential risk of infections, infestations and general poor health which can lead to reduced attendance at school.

The Advisory Board is composed of Phuket Ex-pats from Australia, UK, USA & Europe who enjoy living and experiencing Phuket who support and encourage a range of community projects including Literacy, Water & Sanitation, Environmental Management, Education and assisting in various activities which help support disadvantaged members of the community.
The Advisory Board supports local young Thai community leaders to develop all the community projects.
Peter Harris born in the UK and migrated with family to Australia where he attended school and over his career in education was involved in establishing indigenous, international and ecumenical schools.
In 2008 he visited Phuket to organise an ASEAN Student Eco- leaders conference and never left. Since then he was involved with SEEK,contributing to a Phuket Sustainability Plan, Chaired the Community Service Projects Committee of the Rotary Club of Patong Beach which was involved in scholarships,literacy projects,road safety and water and sanitation and as Chair of APEN made a commitment to various environment and equity programs.
More recently with the support of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade he has undertaken projects on water waste and sanitation in Koh Sirea.
Peter’s passion is to support young Thai leadership as they develop sustainable plans for Phuket’s future
